The second-annual Congressional vs. Lobbyist charity basketball game will be played Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Smith Center and will feature former professional football player Rep. Steve Largent (R-OK).
The game will benefit Hill Staffers for the Hungry and Homeless, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization devoted to serving the needy in the D.C. area, and Horton’s Kids, a nonprofit tutoring and mentoring program for underprivileged children. Sponsored by the American League of Lobbyists, the game will be preceded by a silent auction at 6 p.m. The auction will feature items such as a Washington Redskins autographed football and a weekend stay at the Williard Hotel. The event is open to the public.
Captain Paul Miller of the Independent Office and Furniture Dealers Association will lead the team of lobbyists against the congressional team, led by Reps. Jack Quinn (R-NY) and Tom Barrett (D-WI).
