GW sophomore Cathy Joens hurt her knee in a pickup game at the Smith Center Thursday afternoon. The Colonials shooting guard is on crutches and had X-rays this weekend.
Head Coach Joe McKeown said he did not know the severity of the injury but commented that there was a possibility of some ligament damage. The team will find out Joens’ status Thursday and the team will have a better idea if surgery is needed. If Joens needs surgery, she would likely be out for the entire season.
Joens played in 31 of 32 games for the Colonials last season and averaged just under seven points a game.
