THE GREATEST GW ATHLETES OF ALL TIME: No. 4 — Mike Brown

4 Mike Brown
Men’s Basketball (1981-1985; East Orange, N.J.)

Mike Brown, GW’s second all-time leading scorer, completes the basketball triumvirate of Holup and Rogers. Scoring 1,916 points in his career, Brown (The New Washington Monument) led the team in scoring and rebounding all of his four years. He also led the team in field goal percentage and blocks for three years and joins Rogers as the only Colonial to be team most valuable player for three seasons. He was A-10 Rookie of the Year, made the Atlanitc 10 second team twice and the A-10 first team twice.

After making the famous final cut for the 1984 Olympic team, Brown joined Charles Barkley in not making the team, but he also soon joined him in the NBA. Brown was drafted in the third round of the 1985 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. He spent over a decade in the league, playing with five different teams.
