GW’s Greatest Teams: Dynasties of the Century

Men’s basketball 1929-1956
Over 25 seasons, GW had only one losing year.

Men’s basketball 1990-1999
Over nine seasons, GW had nine winning campaigns and eight postseason appearances, culminating with a 24-9 record in 1998 and an outright A-10 West Championship in 1999.

Women’s basketball 1990-2000
Over 10 seasons under Coach Joe McKeown, the Colonials have won 20 games nine times and made the NCAA Tournament eight times.

Football 1931-1936
Led by Alphonse Tuffy Leemans, the Colonials were the kings of D.C. college football, notching six-straight winning seasons while hosting the top teams in the nation at Griffith Stadium.

Women’s volleyball 1992-1995
Under Coach Susie Homan, GW was 54-3 in the A-10 over four seasons, netting four straight A-10 regular season titles, three straight A-10 Tournament Championships and three straight NCAA appearances.

Gymnastics 1997-2000
The Colonials have been A-10 Champions three consecutive years.

Baseball 1957-1959
Under basketball/football/baseball coach Bill Reinhart, the Colonials were Southern Conference Champions and NCAA qualifiers three years straight.
