Coach Bill Reinhart came to GW basketball in 1935 and things were never the same.
In the 1935-’36 season, the Colonials went 16-3. Before rankings and tournaments, judging the prowess of this team has been left to experts such as St. Bonaventure Professor Patrick Premo. Premo has ranked GW’s team that year the 15th best in the nation.
In 1936-’37, GW went 16-4. That team, led by GW’s first All-American, Bob Faris, is ranked No. 8 by Premo, making it arguably the greatest GW basketball team of all time.
