My husband and I would like to compliment David Holt on his article on the Xavier game Saturday. We live near Harrisburg, Pa., and have followed the team since our son was a freshman seven years ago. We had season tickets until this year and decided that the traveling was getting a bit much, especially during the week.

We still follow the team’s progress and watch them on TV or listen on the Internet when we can get the games. We attended our first game of the season yesterday and realized how much we miss them. The students were amazing!

We have been somewhat annoyed by students’ lack of support in the past. The team has had better seasons and during those seasons student support has been less than enthusiastic many times. What a difference now. It was exhilarating to be there, even though I had an obnoxious Xavier fan screaming in my ear for the entire game and blaming the refs because they lost.

We applaud The Hatchet and the students, along with Coach Tom Penders and the players, for making the games exciting enough to make us drive down again (two hours one-way) Wednesday night to see them whip Dayton!
