Colonials get one recruit in early signing period

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA — GW men’s basketball coach Tom Penders confirmed Thursday that GW has received a national letter of intent from high school recruit Shawn Davis. Davis is a 6-7, 235-pound, small power-forward from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tenn.

GW Associate Head Coach Rob Wright reported that Davis averaged 15 points, 14 rebounds and three assists his junior year, was the most valuable player of the region and also made the all-state and all-district teams.

“He’s like a football player,” Penders said. “He’s a hard-nosed player, a meat-and-potatoes player. He gets after it. He’s a good addition to the frontcourt.”

The early signing period is now over. Davis is GW’s only recruit thus far.
