Deadline approaches for literary magazine Wooden Teeth

GW’s art and literary magazine Wooden Teeth is accepting submissions for its first issue, which will be published in the spring. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 12.

The literary magazine proclaims “Submit Yourself” on its posters placed all around campus. Its goal is to “invoke the GW community in art and literature,” Editor in Chief Araina Markoe said. The group also holds coffeehouses twice a semester.

Wooden Teeth accepts poetry and prose, short plays, fiction and two-dimensional art. The publication is always looking for more artwork and longer stories, Publicity Chair Sudeep Sharma said.

The only requirement to submit art or literature is that one must be a member of the GW community. Markoe said while faculty and staff are more than welcome to submit, the bulk of the material does come from students. After all submissions are in, Wooden Teeth’s staff anonymously reviews each piece, and the best pieces are selected and printed.

Wooden Teeth will now gather all the comments that the staff makes on a piece and give the critiques to the artists, a new feature this year.

Wooden Teeth‘s first coffeehouse will be held Oct. 22. All are welcome to come and enjoy readings and free coffee. Students can share their own work as well.
