SA could move funding process to cyberspace

Student Association President-elect Phil Meisner wants to make the student group allocation process more convenient by putting it on the Internet.

“Everything that can be automated will be automated,” Meisner said.

Meisner said student groups will be able to apply online for allocations.

“The whole system will be updated with new technology,” Meisner said. “Groups will apply for funding online and once we give the allocation, all the bookkeeping will be on the computer too.”

Meisner said the change will decrease paperwork, which can make the process tedious and time-consuming.

He said he believes the technology will speed up the processing time of allocation requests by “up to five times.” Student group leaders will receive a response in about two days, instead of two weeks. Student group leaders will also know immediately if they received a co-sponsorship from the SA.
