Rogers, Mescheriakov named to all-star team

The National Association of Basketball Coaches selected Shawnta Rogers and Yegor Mescheriakov to play in the NABC All-Star Game at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Tampa, Fla.

Rogers and Mescheriakov will represent the east squad under University of Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith. Teammates on the east team include guards John Celestand (Villanova University) and Melvin Levett (University of Cincinnati) and center Lari Ketner (Massachusetts).

More than 200 of the game’s players have gone on to become first- or second-round NBA draft picks.

Rogers will also compete in the College Three-Point Championships Thursday in Tampa. The event will be televised live on ESPN at 9:30 p.m.
