GW women’s basketball signs three recruits

Three recruits signed with the GW women’s basketball team during the November signing period, head coach Joe McKeown said.

Signing national letters of intent with GW were Lindsey Davidson of Brea, Calif., Cathy Joens of Irvine, Calif., and Erica Lawrence of Nyack, N.Y.

Davidson, a 5-9 guard, has received much acclaim during her career at Brea Olinda – the No. 2 ranked team in the nation by USA Today and the California Division II state champion. Athlon Sports rated Davidson the fifth-best high school senior. She also was named an all-American by Nike, USA Today, Street and Smith‘s and Student Sport Magazine.

Joens, a 5-11 shooting guard/small forward from Calvary Chapel, received honorable mention all-America by Street and Smith‘s and all-American status from the AAU.

Davidson and Joens are teammates on the California Academy AAU team.

Lawrence, a 6-0 forward from Nyack High School, was named Player of the Year in 1996 and 1997 by the Rockland County Basketball Coaches Association.
