GW professor of Botany Terry L. Hufford recently was named the Outstanding Four Year College/University Biology teacher for 1998 by the National Association of Biology Teachers.
Hufford was honored at the NABT National Meetings in Reno, Nev. Nov. 4-7. At an NABT annual breakfast and business meeting, he was presented with a cash award and plaque honoring his work with precollege teachers, the development of precollege curriculum, his work in the field of biology at several universities in Indonesia, the rigor of his biology course, his strides in multimedia instruction in the laboratory and his concern for learning-disabled students, according to a release.
The award also honored the time he dedicated to office hours, e-mail correspondence and small-group discussions.
Hufford’s teaching ability, as attested to by numerous GW graduates, also was recognized, according to the release.
