A-10 honors GW swimmers

Two members of the GW men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were named Performers of the Week by the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Junior Juan Bocanegra earned the award on the men’s side. He won the 200-yard individual medley against Duquesne and the College of William & Mary Saturday with a time of 1:55.36, the fastest time in the conference this season. He also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :46.90, the third-fastest time in the conference.

Sophomore Brandyn Roark won the award on the women’s side. She won the 50-yard freestyle Saturday with a time of :24.62, the best in the conference this year. She posted a time of :53.98 in the 100-yard freestyle, the conference’s fifth-fastest time.

GW is in action at home Saturday when it takes on A-10 rival Virginia Tech at 11 a.m.
