The GW men’s and women’s cross country teams weren’t expecting to win the Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia Saturday.
Both GW squads also didn’t expect to finish ninth at the 11-team conference meet, but that’s what they did.
The men finished with a total of 224 points, beating just Xavier and St. Bonaventure. St. Joseph’s won the championship with 29 points and had the top three runners in the race.
Junior Dan Uriano was GW’s top finisher. He placed 20th in a time of 26:11, less than a minute behind meet winner John Williams of St. Joe’s.
The women finished with 284 points, beating Xavier and St. Bonaventure as well. Massachusetts won the meet with 35 points.
GW’s top finisher was Amanda Roebel, who placed 53rd in a time of 20:04, more than a minute and a half behind freshman Kristin Cisowski of UMass, the meet winner.
