The 2005 Colonial Cabinet came together at its annual transition dinner earlier this month to pass the torch to their successors, whose selections were officially announced this week.

Spring rush ended this week, and 95 students can now call themselves new members of GW's 20 fraternities and sororities.
The figure is nearly identical to the results of last spring, when 96 students joined the groups. Leaders of the Interfraternity Council, which oversees GW's fraternities, called rush week a success.

A lit cigarette butt dropped outside of Funger Hall caused floor tiles near the entrance to smolder and forced more than 100 students to evacuate from the building and the neighboring Duques Hall Tuesday afternoon. The fire alarms went off around 1:45 p.m., and four fire trucks arrived shortly thereafter.

Despite being a month behind on construction, University officials and an owner of TONIC Restaurant said that the new venue, which will be built in the vacant Quigley's building at 21st and G streets, will still open as scheduled by January 2007 or earlier.
