Burglary

Case closed

A student reported to the University Police Department that her backpack was missing from her residence hall room, and an investigation revealed that her backpack was taken by a contracted employee who moved her backpack for safekeeping. The backpack was returned to the student.

– Unfounded.

Harassing Telephone Calls

Science and Engineering Hall
May 18 – Multiple times
Case closed

A staff member reported to UPD that she had received several harassing phone calls to her office from telemarketers.

– No further action.

Destruction of Property

Funger Hall
May 22 – Unknown time
Case closed

A UPD officer on patrol saw graffiti inside a second floor stairwell in Funger Hall. The department does not know how long that graffiti has been there, and there is no surveillance in the stairwell.

– No suspects or witnesses.

Unlawful entry

Gelman Library
May 19 – 6:12 p.m.
Case Closed

UPD responded to a report that an individual who is not affiliated with the University attempted to gain entrance into Gelman. The male subject was barred from University property.

– Subject barred.

1957 E Street
May 25 – Multiple times
Case closed

An outside agency reported to UPD that a male student was using a key logging device on GW computers to determine course availability. He put a logging device on GW computers and a classroom in 1957 E Street. The department is still looking into the case.

– Referred to DSA.

Theft

Academic Center, Breezeway
May 27 – 9:40 p.m.
Case closed

A student reported to UPD that he secured his bike to a bike rack outside the academic center, and when he returned to retrieve his bike, it was missing from the rack.

– No suspects or witnesses.

Unlawful Entry/Robbery Purse Snatch/Destruction of Property

Public Property on Campus, 2023 Block of G Street N.W.
May 30 – 2:35 p.m.
Case closed

An individual not affiliated with the University reported to UPD and Metropolitan Police Department that her boyfriend, who is also not affiliated, approached her at the intersection of 20th and G streets and snatched her phone and threw it on the ground, which caused it to break. The boyfriend, who was barred from GW, fled the area before UPD arrived and ran into Shenkman Hall.

– Referred to MPD.

Public Drunkenness

Public Property on Campus, 22nd and G streets N.W.
May 30 – 10:25 p.m.
Case closed

A UPD officer while on patrol observed a male subject lying on a bench behind Smith Hall. The subject, who was not affiliated with the University, was then transported by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services to GW hospital.

– Subject barred.
