Wale, Travie McCoy returning to campus for Fall Fest 2010

Rapper Wale and Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travie McCoy will headline this year’s Fall Fest.

McCoy previously performed at GW as part of Gym Class Heroes during Spring Fling in 2008. He released a solo album, “Lazarus,” in June.

News that D.C.-based rapper Wale was expected to perform at Fall Fest broke when his website listed “George Washington University” as the location for his Sept. 4 concert. His website has since removed any listing for that date.

Wale has also performed at GW, headlining Fall Fest in 2008 alongside rock bands Virginia Coalition and The Canon Logic.

Daniel Reef, Program Board’s concerts chair, called Wale and McCoy “two up-and-coming artists with big names and big songs.”

“GW students should be excited to see two of the best and most talked about young artists in hip-hop who really appeal to the college crowd with their upbeat style and easy going flow,” Reef said. The annual Welcome Week event will be held Sept. 4 in University Yard, rain or shine.
