WEB UPDATE: Colonial Army loses privileges, Colonial Invasion axed

The Colonial Army will not receive preferential seating and Colonial Invasion will not take place this basketball season, Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz said.

The University will likely release lower section tickets to students one business day before the game, Kvancz said. Those who do not receive a ticket for the lower section will be allowed to enter the Smith Center the day of the game with their GWorld card. Kvancz told The Hatchet yesterday that University officials met this morning to discuss ticketing changes.

Kvancz said the purpose of the plan is to “change the culture” of basketball ticketing and prepare for an eventual transition to paying for tickets.

Colonial Invasion, the annual pep session in the Smith Center, has also been axed. Kvancz said he had nothing to do with the decision to cancel it.

Check Thursday’s issue of The Hatchet for more on the changes to this year’s basketball season.
