Thumbs Up Thumbs Down

A monthly wrap-up of GW's ups and downs

Ivory Tower dining venues
Effectively replacing J Street as the dining hall of choice for students, venues such as Coggins’, The Pita Pit and Gallery Caf? provide high quality food and friendly service. The future addition of Dunkin’ Donuts only improves an already positive situation.
ANC elections
Beating former Student Association President Kris Hart by a substantial margin for the Advisory Neighborhood Commission, Dorothy Miller is set to marginalize legitimate residential concerns if she continues with another four years of offensive characterizations and stereotypes of GW students.
Colonial Invasion
With the basketball programs receiving increased attention and popularity from the student body, the overall vibe from Colonial Invasion improved substantially from last year. While better, students who can remember Midnight Madness’ best years still see room for more upgrades for next year’s event.
Jumbotron in the Smith Center
The new scoreboard plays streaming video and has the capacity for showing instant replays. While a novel and exciting item for basketball fans, few can dispute the University could have put the funds used for its purchase toward better academic uses while entire departments and majors are cut.
