Golf ends fall in 16th-place at Seascape

by Sean Lee

Both Thomas Blankvoort and the GW golf team tied for 16th place at last weekend’s Old Dominion Seascape Collegiate in Kitty Hawk, N.C. The Colonials ended the team’s fall schedule with a small victory, beating Richmond for the first time since 1982.

The University of North Carolina-Wilmington edged the University of Maryland for the tournament win at the par-72 6,469-yard course. UNC-Wilmington’s Bill Lewis shot a six-under-par 138 (68-70) for the tournament victory.

Blankvoort, who shot a two-over-par 146 (70-76) to lead GW for the sixth-consecutive tournament, was the lone Colonial in the top 50. Junior-transfer Michael Ball tied teammate Charles Taylor for 74th place. Ryan Mello tied for 80th, Stuart Healey tied for 83rd.
