The Colonials went 26-6 this year, and 14-2 in the A-10. After coasting to an A-10 Tournament Championship, GW was given a four-seed in the NCAA Tournament. By knocking off DePaul University, GW moved on to face No. 5 seeded Drake University in the second round.
Trailing 78-61 with under five minutes left, GW faced another second-round disappointment, but an amazing comeback forced overtime, where the Colonials earned their first Sweet 16 appearance. Their season would end in a loss to the University of Colorado.
