GW inducts members to Hall of Fame

Friday night at the Washington Marriott, GW inducted seven new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame in a two-hour ceremony full of emotion, humor and camaraderie. The inductees were also honored at halftime of Saturday's basketball game. The new Hall of Famers, the 41st class, brought the total number of members up to 94.

They were Bob Sturm ('56), football and track; Anna (McWhirter) Bush ('86), volleyball; Callie Flipse ('88), men's water polo; Frederick Samuelson ('51), football; Dr. Patrick Fasusi ('77), men's soccer; and Jodie Wampler ('73), baseball.

Inductee George (Roy) McNeil ('42) won six varsity letters in basketball and baseball. McNeil passed away in January but knew of his induction. His widow and grandson accepted the award Friday night.

I hope to grow up and be as good an athlete as my Papa, said Ned Whisman, age 9.-David Holt
